Two Advantages Of Having A Good Domain Name

Having the right thing for the right purpose definitely has its benefits. It has so many benefits in fact that the name you choose to go with will be synonymous to your success. Why? It's because people need to have something to label your type of business. People just can't go and talk about something if they don't even know what it's called. That's just how the way things are and boy will it definitely work to your advantage (or disadvantage, if you fail).

So what's in a name? There a lot of things you can get out of a name. For one thing, can you imagine yourself being called a number like 168-9959 instead of John or Tom or Lisa or even Anne? Having a name makes it a bit more personal, giving it a sense of identity that it will definitely need in such a big world that we have.

1. It makes your site a lot easier to remember.

Can you imagine a restaurant without a name? How hard do you think it would be for people to tell others about it when they don't know what it is called. They will definitely come up with a way to describe it or perhaps even give it a name. Maybe they'd start with “that restaurant across Main Street,” or “that place with the romantic little lamps on every table.” We all need to have something to relate a particular thing to in order for us to remember it. How else can we store it in our memory unless we have one particular, concrete thing to remember it by?

Our mind can only store so many things – and the catch is that it's also limited. Did you know that the human mind can store a maximum of about five to seven items at any given time? With only that few items we can work on remembering at a time, having a pretty darn good name to remember your site by would be a good idea.

2. It allows your site to become unique from the rest of those found on the internet.

You wouldn't want to have a generic name for your domain, nobody does. That's because we want to be identified as something that's separate from the rest. We all strive for greatness, to strive to break away from mediocrity. And ultimately, if the sites you register get that big break we all look for you would definitely want to have a name for yourself.

You can start doing that by coming up with a name that's unique and that will stick. When you think about it, did you think all the big names and internet sites like Friendster, MySpace, Multiply and Facebook had thought about this beforehand? We would all like to think so. Besides, it's clever, it's short and it's easy to remember. And when those three things come together smoothly, you're definitely bound to keep coming back if the product they offer is worth it.
